What is a Heaven & Earth Gua Sha Facial?

For our signature facial, the Gua Sha specialist employs the use of hot Bian Stones created from meteorites that crashed into earth’s surface in northern China. Thus, the name ‘heaven’. This is followed by cold Jade (‘earth’) Gua Sha Tools and Rollers. This creates a yin and yang effect to balance and naturally lift and tone facial muscles, refine texture and stimulate lymphatic drainage. The results are immediate where you can feel and see lift with fresher, younger, rejuvenated and glowing skin. The 90 minutes includes Gua Sha application to head/scalp, neck and shoulder as well as lower back to address Kidney Chi for relaxation and revitalizing energy.

Do you offer Facial Acupuncture?

Yes, we offer facial acupuncture as part of our holistic skincare treatments - GingerChi Acu-Chi Facial Rejuvenation by Dr. Mary Chiu. This service is designed to boosting muscle tone, circulation, and collagen production while addressing disharmonies in the body and the flow of Chi. This distinctive method goes beyond traditional treatments, targeting underlying imbalances in the body to promote true rejuvenation.

How do I know which Facial Treatment is right for me?

Facial Acupuncture is best if you're targeting fine lines, wrinkles, and want overall skin rejuvenation with a focus on internal balance.

Gua Sha Facial is ideal for lifting, sculpting, and reducing puffiness, offering a non-invasive way to enhance your skin's natural contours.

If you're still unsure, our experts can help you decide.

How Long Does a Facial Treatment Take?

Our facial treatments range from 60 to 90 minutes to complete. There is no downtime after the treatment, so if you only have one hour, you can complete the treatment when you have time and get right back to your day.

For more intense treatments and overall relaxation and rejuvenation we recommend going with the 90 minutes. We guarantee you’ll be glad you did also.

Can Facials Be Customized?

We tailor each facial to address specific skin or facial concerns you may have. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), many skin issues stem from imbalances within the body. Our Therapist and Dr. Mary Chiu will assess your skin and target acupressure points to deliver optimal results. We blend and adapt our techniques to suit your unique needs, believing that every customer is an individual, and there is no 'one size fits all' approach here.

How Often Should You Get Facial Treatments?

How often you get a facial treatment depends on a few factors. How chronic is your issue, you skin type and the cycle of your skin. When your skin regrows after the facial, it will eventually look dull, so ideally you should have a facial before the skin reaches that point. For most people, one facial per month or every three to four weeks should provide continuously healthy skin. Having a facial treatment once per month will remove damaged skin cells as they appear so your skin will always have a healthy and youthful look.

To maintain our Gau Sha natural face-lifts and see results, we recommend every two weeks or at least once a month. We also advise you to continue practicing the Gua Sha at regularly at home in between sessions.

Can I wear makeup right after a facial?

Actually our clients look so radiant after their treatments, they see don’t need for makeup. If possible avoid make up for 12-24 hours. Allow our natural plant-based product used during your facial, time to soak in and work their magic. If you are planning on going to an event, then we recommend scheduling your facial a couple days prior. Your skin will be soft and glowing by then and will help your makeup to go on effortlessly.

How soon will I start seeing results from my facial?

Some people see results immediately, and your skin should feel different right away. Especially after a Gua Sha Natural Face Lift. The skin feels clean, smooth, hydrated, and lifted - reflecting a new level of health that’s visibly noticeable. If the skin has more advanced long-term needs, such as treatment of skin aging, acne or hyper-pigmentation caused by hormonal fluctuations or sun damage, results may not be immediately visible; however, skin health will continue to improve as you follow our advice, and use a good home-care regimen.

What are the long-term benefits of getting regular facials?

Plain and simple: healthy younger looking skin! The natural products we handcraft are designed to help keep skin at an optimal level of fitness – not just cover up with cosmetic results. In addition, when skin is at an optimal level of fitness, we can more effectively address issues that may arise from time to time, as your skin’s needs are constantly changing.

If I get a facial, do I have to use GingerChi products at home?

No, but we recommend you use as natural as possible. Many products from drug stores or beauty counters contain ingredients that cause or contribute to skin issues such as dryness, oiliness, acne breakouts and redness.

I have an event coming up, when should I get a facial?

The day before is best, but you can also get a facial as close as the morning or afternoon of your event.

I'm pregnant can I still get a facial?

Yes. Depending on how far along you are, we will make sure you are comfortable. Please tell your esthetician in your consultation that you are pregnant, and we will switch out any necessary products to ensure the safety of you and your baby.

Can I receive a facial if I've had Botox or fillers done?

For any Facial Accupunture and Gua Sha Faccal, it's recommended to wait at least two weeks after Botox before starting facial acupuncture. This ensures that the Botox has fully settled without interference.
