The Real Scoop on Face Misting

Using skincare products adds protection to your skin's defense, helping your skin stay healthy and look its best. Just like how you moisturize or add serum to provide better support to your skin, face misting is an additional step that can help your skin get what it needs.

The key to misting is to choose the right facial mist for your skin's needs.

Various facial mists can offer different benefits for your skin, including:

  • Added hydration
  • Improved absorption of other skincare products
  • Tightening pores
  • Calming sun-bathed skin
  • Setting makeup
  • Nourishing skin

In the summer, not only can face misting give your skin a burst of hydration, but it's also a great way to recharge and feel refreshed. A face mist could help nourish the skin and keep it balanced throughout the day.

Being mindful about the steps that we add on to our skincare regimen can help us reach our own personal skincare goals.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A FACE MIST?

As with any skincare, ingredients are formulated for specific purposes, targeting different issues. You should look for ingredients that suit your skin type and needs.

For example, if you’re looking to cool down the angry red skin during summer, ingredients like rose, lavender, and peppermint have anti-inflammatory properties that can calm irritated skin and target redness.

If you’re looking to add some extra moisture to your skin, look for a mist with hyaluronic acid, which is known for its ability to hold 1,000 times its weight in water to keep skin hydrated and plump.

Aloe is another great ingredient for soothing skin, especially after spending time in the sun.

Chamomile is especially great for sensitive skin and skin with eczema, as it has properties that soothe and calm inflamed skin.

WHEN TO MIST

With mists, it is important to use them the right way.
They should be used as the first step in your skin care ritual after cleansing, to close pores, followed by your regular skin care routine.

Some mists can be used to set makeup after initial application and throughout the day.

For those who include hyaluronic acid serum in their routine, misting throughout the day continues to give a moisturizing effect, as hyaluronic acid attracts water from the surroundings onto our skin.
